| ORIGINAL | Author
will be asked to certify that the submitted paper is
original and that the author possesses ownership. |

| FIRST PUBLICATION | Papers
can only be considered that have not been published
elsewhere or are not under consideration elsewhere for
publication. |

| COPYRIGHT | Ownership of the copyright will be transferred to The Southern Journal of Philosophy if accepted for publication. We make every effort to contact the author before granting permission to reprint. | |
| SUBMISSION | Two
double-spaced copies of the manuscript should be
submitted and these will not be returned. Authors who
have been previously published in The Southern Journal
of Philosophy may submit additional papers. If
accepted, an electronic copy of the manuscript will be
requested. Papers are submitted to:

| REFEREE REVIEW | Submitted papers are
sent to referees for review in the format that they are received. If you
prefer blind review, please prepare your manuscript accordingly
(removable cover page, nonidentifying running head, no identifying
remarks, etc.). Authors preferring blind review should include the title
of the paper on the first page of the manuscript and in the running
head. The review process takes approximately 4 to 7 weeks. |

| LENGTH | There
is no required word minimum/maximum range on submitted
papers. However, authors should note that both the average number of words in articles in recent issues was
around 9,000 words. |

| STYLE AND FORM | We
follow the Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition).
Authors of accepted papers will have the
opportunity to review the page proofs for corrections;
however, no part of the article may be rewritten during
the final proofing. |

| NOTES | All
notes should be numbered consecutively and collected at
the end of the manuscript. |
|
| BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH | Please
provide a brief biographical sketch
(50 to 75 words) of
the sort that regularly accompany articles appearing in
the journal. This may include the author's name, current
position and institution, recent major publications, and
areas of interest. |

| ABSTRACT | An abstract of approximately 100 words should accompany a submitted paper. | |
| REPRINTS | Twenty
covered reprints of articles may be ordered by authors.
This option is elected by the author at the time of
reviewing the page proofs.
Authors will automatically receive two complete copies of the journal issue that contains their article. |
